5 Best Spots for Senior / Graduation Photos near Boulder, CO
As a photographer in the Boulder area, I get to work with incredible people and capture the moments that define one of the most exciting times in their lives—graduation! One of my favorite parts of the job is helping my clients pick the perfect location for their senior/grad photos. If you're looking for inspiration, here are five spots in and around Boulder that offer stunning backdrops for your big day.
1. Chautauqua Park
Chautauqua Park is hands down one of my favorite spots for senior photos. With the iconic Flatirons towering above, it’s the perfect place to capture those mountain views and lush greens that make Boulder so special. The space here is expansive, so there's plenty of room to move around, run through the grass, or even get lost in the wildflowers (depending on the season). Whether you’re a nature lover or just want those sweeping mountain views in your shots, Chautauqua Park will give you that iconic Boulder vibe.
2. Campus (Your School's Campus)
Whether you’re wrapping up high school or finishing your college degree, your campus is a place that holds countless memories. From the buildings that define your day-to-day life to the iconic landmarks and mascots that made your school unique, campus is a great spot to make your senior photos feel personal. Plus, it's the perfect way to remember your academic journey in a way that's all about you.
3. Boulder Creek
Boulder Creek offers those magical spring vibes that can turn your grad photos into something truly dreamy. The flowing creek, lush greenery, and vibrant foliage make for a naturally beautiful setting that’s perfect for any senior or grad shoot. I love the fertile, hopeful feeling the area brings—there’s just something about the peaceful energy of the creek that makes it ideal for capturing your big moment. If you're looking for something with a little more tranquility and natural beauty, Boulder Creek is a perfect choice.
4. Wonderland Lake
If you want to capture a variety of shots, Wonderland Lake is a fantastic option. From wide open fields to stunning views of the mountains, there's so much to work with here. It’s a peaceful spot where you can really get creative, whether you're posing by the lake, sitting in the field, or even playing on the playground (yes, there's one!). Wonderland Lake gives you lots of options and makes it easy to get those laid-back, fun, and beautiful shots.
5. Rocky Mountain National Park (Sprague Lake)
Now, if you’re up for a bit of an adventure, Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park is an absolute must for epic grad photos. The views are breathtaking, with crystal-clear water reflecting the surrounding peaks and forests. While it's a bit of a drive from Boulder, it’s totally worth it if you want photos that scream “majestic.” Whether you’re looking for something serene or want to capture the grandeur of the Rockies, this spot delivers on both. Just be prepared for a bit of a journey, but trust me, you won’t regret it.
