Are Senior Photos Worth The Money?
If you’re here, you’re probably considering investing in a senior photoshoot, but you’re not sure if it’s worth the money. That’s totally fair! Photoshoots can often be a big investment.
Before I get into it, let’s acknowledge that I, as a senior photographer, may be biased! I am passionate about photography, and I believe photographs are timeless keepsakes that we hold onto forever.
But I am not trying to sell you on my services here. It’s important to discuss all the options, and decide whether a senior shoot is the right choice for you!
I’ll just go ahead and state my opinion: SENIOR PHOTOS ARE ALWAYS WORTH THE INVESTMENT.
Picture this: it’s 50+ years in the future. You’re old and gray, saggy and wrinkly, reflecting on your youth. Maybe you want to show your grandchildren the YOU you were back then. But the only photos you have to look back on from your teens/twenties are the Snapchat dog filter selfies you took 85,000 of for some reason. Maybe a nice iPhone portrait-mode shot here and there, but no professional gallery to flip through.
I’m not sure about you, but the thought of that makes me sad! When I grow older, I know I’m not going to be picking through my holographic camera roll to find a good pic. I’ll be referencing the professional prints I got from my photoshoot, remembering how beautiful and confident I felt at the time. Seeing all angles of my past self, remembering how it felt to be in my current skin. Loving on my “flaws”; still feeling the softness of my youthful skin.
Now THAT’S a future I can get down with.
Yes, your photoshoot may feel like a big investment. You may be thinking, “they’re just photos. Do I really care that much? What would I need them for anyway?’
How about… Memories. Storytelling. Reflection. Nostalgia. Immortalizing the version of YOU that is here today.
I would hate for you to get past this season of life and regret your decision to save a few bucks. Yes, your mom may slay with the iPhone, but let’s be real — (I say this with love) it’s NOT the same as booking a professional.
If you ask me, investing in photography is ALWAYS worth the money. No matter what your chosen photographer charges, preserving your youth is priceless.
Take it from me — don’t let this be the only photo you have from graduation. I never got senior photos and boy do I regret it! :(
