When most people think about engagement photos, they picture a couple standing in a field, holding hands, smiling stiffly at the camera. But let’s be honest—engagement photos don’t have to be boring or staged! In fact, they shouldn’t be. The best photos happen when you’re just being you.

Here’s the thing: connection matters more than location. Sure, golden hour in the Colorado foothills is beautiful (and we can definitely do that if that lights you up), but some of my favorite Boulder engagement sessions have happened in the most unexpected places!
Take Sabrina and Evan, for example. For their session, we skipped the traditional park or mountaintop and opted for something that felt more like them:
We started at the arcade, got drinks, played a few games, and ended the evening eating ice cream in the park. HOW ADORABLE ARE THESE PHOTOS?!
These two love games, laughing together, and treating themselves to sweets, so that’s what we focused on! And because the whole shoot felt natural, their gallery is full of real smiles, big laughs, and little moments of connection that would’ve never happened in a stiff, posed setting.
