Why You Should Book a Longer Session for Your Photos (it’s worth it!)

Whether you’re celebrating your graduation, planning engagement photos, or just want to treat yourself to an empowering shoot, you might be thinking: “Let’s keep this short and sweet so it’s less intimidating.”

I totally get that! Being in front of the camera can feel nerve-wracking at first. But here’s what most people don’t realize: longer sessions are where the real magic happens! Here’s why booking extra time is absolutely worth it.

More Locations = More Variety

When we book a 2 or 3-hour session instead of just one hour, we’re not limited to a single location. We can explore multiple spots and create a gallery full of variety, color, and mood.

Imagine this:

  • Seniors: Start at a mountain overlook for those classic Colorado vibes, then head to a trendy Boulder alleyway for an urban look.

  • Couples: Begin your session at an arcade for fun-filled candids, then move to a field during golden hour for dreamy romance.

This means you’ll walk away with a collection that feels rich and dynamic—not just one style of photo.

Multiple Outfits, Multiple Moods

Longer sessions give you time for more outfit changes without rushing. You can bring all those looks you couldn’t choose between—your casual go-to, something formal, and maybe something a lil more funky!

For seniors, this might mean mixing in your cap and gown, a formal look, and your favorite everyday style. For couples, it could be cozy casual, date-night chic, and a romantic layered look for sunset snuggles.

More outfits = more variety, and your gallery will feel fresh and versatile for announcements, prints, Instagram, and everything in between.

Time to Relax, Get Creative, and Have Fun

This might be the biggest reason of all. Longer sessions give you time to settle in, loosen up, and actually enjoy the process. When we’re not rushing the clock, you’ll feel more natural, which always translates to better photos.

Extra time also means more space for creativity—trying new ideas, unique poses, and spontaneous moments that make your gallery truly one-of-a-kind.

And Of Course… More Photos!

The longer the session, the more moments we capture. Pretty simple math, right? More variety, more outfits, more locations—and more photos you’ll treasure forever.

Real Session Ideas

Here’s what past clients have done with their longer sessions:

  • Senior Session: A cozy bookstore vibe followed by mountain views at Chautauqua Park

  • Engagement Session: Getting a drink at the arcade, then grabbing ice cream to eat in the park!
